Task 4: Identifying Potential Problems

In our advertisement production we have made sure that there will be no problems as far as production is concerned. We made sure that we would not come across any problems by discussing what some of the issues could be when producing and editing our advert and making sure that we found out the different way in which we could resolve the problems and stop these from happening. Some of the problems that we could face would be when editing we could have a problem with finding the right music as if we used famous well known music it would be copyrighting, we could also have a problem if the space that we would like to use is unavailable at a particular time. We made sure that there were no advertisements out that were similar to the one we would like to produce. We will not be using false advertisement as what we will involve in our advertisement will be 100% the truth throughout. We are also going to make sure that we use a range of different ages and genders in our cast so that our advertisement does not come across as sexist. All of our actors and actresses will only have a small amount of skin showing so that the advert is not inappropriate for viewers. Our idea concept has not be copied in any way and we know this because our group have done research on the different Lucozade sport advertisement that have already been produced. Our advertisement will not show in any way that this drink is able to make someone perform better when dancing it will just demonstrate that this drink gives people energy.

Task 3: Research for production

Task 3-

We need to find out about all of these things before beginning our production because if there are any problems or faults with equipment then we need to be able to try and solve them. We also need to do this because we need to be able to have a back up plan for if anything goes wrong with our original plan and need to change anything.

Technical Equipment

The equipment that we need to use within our production is a camera, tripod, a dolly, and the lucozade sport drink. We will not need to hire out any of the equipment as our school media department is able to provide this all for us, we will only have to provide the drink. Buying the drinks will cost on average around three pounds. We will film for around about 4 days as there may be times where we may have to go back and re-film sections if they are to mess up in any way. The filming will take place during our lesson time as this is the only time that we have to use the area we will be filming in. There will also be a range of different shots involved in our advert such as close ups, long shots and high shots, these will make our video more appealing for viewers to watch. The shoots will take on average of two hours per day to produce again this may take longer if anything is to change of go wrong throughout the due course of the filming.

Potential Filming Locations

We will be filming our advertisement in the large dance studio that is available in our school leisure centre. We will be getting permission from our school dance teacher to use this area to film in and we will be filming in school time as well as at our lunch break. It is a short walk to the dance studio and will not take long to get there. The only issues that we could face would be that the dance studio may not always be free in school time as there may be some lessons in progress when we would like to film.

Actors and Actresses

In our advert their will be the two other people in my group as the actresses and there will be no other student in the advert. We may be using some of the P.E. teachers as a way for their to be a range of different ages and genders within the video. They are also younger so this will still make the advert appealing to young people. The two girls that are in the video throughout are both teenagers and will make the video appeal to men as well as motivate women. We will be holding auditions throughout the P.E. staff to choose who would best suit for our advert. In the advert we will not have to pay the actors as they are not professional and we will not be using the general public.

Costumes and Props

The costumes we are using are dance costumes and gym wear, these will make our advert more focused on exercise as demonstrating the drink will be used for energy when exercising. We will be asking the teacher that we use to wear their own costumes and we will borrow props from the P.E. department to make our advertisement seem more sporty. We will not have to spend any more as the props and costumes will be provided for free.

I have considered all of the requirements that are involved in our production and i have come to the conclusion that we will be able to produce this advert, as we have all of the equipment and the props that we need to complete the production of this advertisement.

Task 2: Ideas Generations

The first advert idea that we had was to film someone drinking this drink to boost their energy while they were in the gym. We thought that this would be a good concept as it was showing the ranges of different energy that the person had from being tired because of not drinking the drink to becoming full of energy from drinking the drink. The form of this advert would be a realist advert as it would appeal to general people who visit the gym. The style of this advert is sex appeal as we would use attractive people to appeal to our specific audince.
There would be close ups of different parts of the body in this advert that are working out. Our target audience would be teenagers as they are energetic and they would be more likely to go to the gym to keep healthy. This would appeal to them as the drink would be well known to them. The unique selling point of this advert is that it is trying to appeal to both men and women. The price of the drink is low and this would make people want to buy the drink.

The second advert idea that we had was an advert that uses dancing as the main focus of getting energy from lucozade sport. The form of this advert is a realist advert as dancing is an everyday thing to do and it shows how lucozade sport keeps people energised for longer. The style of the advert is a sex appeal advert as it would appeal to men due to the fact that it has sweating women in it. This would inspire women and again appeal to men. The target audience is women and male teenagers. The advert would appeal to teenagers as it would have two girls in it who are both teenager, this would appeal to these teenagers. This unique selling point of this advert is that it focuses both on men and women. This advert idea would shows that people who use up their energy can become energised and continue if they wanted. The price of the drink is also low and would attract people because of the price.

First idea

Second idea

We have chosen to make the first advertisement as we feel that it will show some relevance to the target audience. Our target audience is teenagers and health people who would generally visit the gym as, we feel that this advertisement will appeal to these people as this advertisement will be energetic and will show that the product is good for vast amounts of fitness.

Task 1: Part 4/ Part 5 - Target Audience Research focus group

Part 4

Our chosen product for the advert we are going to produce is Lucozade Sport.

Focus Group Questions;

1) What do you like about our chosen product?
The people we asked felt that the drink was refreshing, had attractive packaging and energy boosting.

2) What do you not like about our chosen product?
The people that paticipated in our focus group felt that the drink had to high of a price and that the bottle shape was strange.

3) What is your favourite flavour?
The people in the focus group like the flavours orange and lemon & lime.

4) Why do you buy this product?
These people buy this product because it gives them energy and they enjoy the taste of it.

5) What would make you buy this product? (Not including price)
These people said that they would buy this product when going to the gym or if they needed energy.

6) (Show Advert, David Cheung in ITV Sports drink Advert 2013) What do you like about this advert?
They like this advert as it shows the technical sides to the drink, the statistics and facts and they give different statements that are different to oter adverts.

7) What do you not like about this advert?
The people in the focus group found this out to be sexist as it does not use any women or people of different sizes and ranges of people.

8) How can we improve on selling Lucozade Sport?
They would improve this by adding more facts, and changing it so that it does not actually associate with sport, they would also improve it so that it is not fun or boring.

9) If you have a choice, what flavour would you create?
Some of the suggestions towards the different flavours of drink were be mango, apple and others.

10) Personally, do you think that Lucozade Sport gives YOU energy?
Some people felt that this did not provide them with any energy were as others felt that it was to a cretain extent as it boosts there energy.

In conclusions the group felt that the drink did not really provide energy but was good as it was an alternative to drinking water and there were many different flavours, they also enjoy the fact that this drink it good for people who work out. They also enjoy the fact that it can be drunk by anyone who like the taste or just does some exercise.

Our focus group identified that all of the previous advertisements made about this specific product was focused on the masculine side of the product and, that the product has been focused on men throughout the rest of their productions as people feel that men are more sporty than women. We also found that people would prefer it if their was more of a range of different flavours that were produced by the company.

Task 1: Part 3 - Target Audience Research Questionnaire Results

Questionnaire Results:

In my survey i found that five males and five females had answered.

Out of then five women and five men i asked the majority of them were aged between 16 to 34 and there was only one person that was aged 55 to 64.

Out of all of the hobbies i found that most people enjoyed playing video games, and watching television as 6 out of the 10 people picked these two categories.

The most popular food that was picked was pasta as it provides slow release energy.

I found that the most popular drink that people chose was tea.

Out of the amount of exercise that people do many people said that they either do the right amount or slightly to little with 30% of people agreeing with both of these statements.

In a summary of our result we found that it would be better to make our advertisement like this as people felt that these advertisements were sometimes sexist and, they felt that the production could be changed so that it was not the same as some of the other productions that had been made.

Task 1: Part 1 - Market and Target Audience research

  • What happens in the advert?
  • The form of the advert
  • The style of the advert
  • What shot types and camera movements it uses?
  • What type of sound/music it uses?
  • What makes it memorable?
  • How it makes the product appealing
  • Why it is suitable for the audience it is targeting
  • Is there anything in the advert that doesn't seem appropriate?

This advert is a Lucozade advert and begins by showing a girl on roller skates dancing, Throughout it demonstrates that this drink gives people energy as it shows a group of boys skateboarding. The form of this advert is a stand alone advert as it is the only one of its kind and it could also be a celebrity advert as the song that is played in this advert is very famous. This would make someone want to buy this drink as it will be able to keep them fit and give them more energy. The style of this advert is a that it is a part of a series of adverts produced by a large brand. There are many different shots in this advertisement, these include a close up that is shown in the beginning of this advert to show the roller-skates of the women that the advert is focused on. Another shot in this advert is long shots these are used in this advert to show the skateboarders and the two girls roller-skating together. They also use cuts in this adverts to move quickly between the roller-skaters and the skateboarders. The type of music that is used in this advert is energetic and shows that the drink is used to give people energy. This also have the music of a famous DJ in the background. This advert is memorable as it uses women and men to display the fact that the drink gives them energy and it is memorable as it has a famous song in the background. This product is made appealing as it shows that people get a lot of energy from the drink. This drink is suitable for the target audience as it shows that it is good for men and women and it shows that it gives people energy so that they will exercise more from drinking this. This advert seems appropriate as it is showing that the drinks gives people energy and that is what the drink aspires to do.

This is a Powerade advert that shows a famous football start 'Wayne Rooney' playing a match against himself, one of them had drunk the drink while the other did not. This form of this advert is talking heads as this advert in particular has someone famous in the whole of the advert, this will make people who are fans of wayne Rooney want to buy this drink. The style of this advert is a famous faces advert as it shows a famous star that everyone would have seen if not heard about. Some of the shots that have been used in this advert are shots such as them using a long shot right at the beginning of the advert to show two people but not enough to show who the two people are, they then use close ups to show that both people are really the same person and that they are about to become very competitive towards one another. In this advert the music starts off very slight but as the person drinks the drink the music becomes more upbeat to show that the drink had given them the energy they needed to win. This is memorable as it is impossible for something like this to happen in real life, and it has a famous sporting star in it. This makes the product appealing to men as they all mainly watch football and if they are a fan of this sporting star then they would drink this to be more like him. This product is appealing as if a footballer is drinking it then people know that it works for them so will buy the product. This is not a suitable advert as it is targeted at men and not at both genders and it is slightly sexist, due the fact that it only shows a man throughout the advert. This advert does not seem appropriate as any sporting star could drink this, and they did not have to use this one particular person as a demonstration of someone famous that drinks this.

This is an oasis advert where a giant rubber duck is travelling through a city and looks in the window of a building at two woman as the duck looks in at them. The form of this advert is surrealism a person would not normally see a giant rubber duck, this will make people interested in buying this drink. The style of this advert is a shock advert as this is something that a person would generally not see if you looked outside of a window. some of the shot that are in this advert are used to show the fear of the people in the advert. They use a close up shot of the ducks head in this video to show that the rubberduckzilla is angry at the parents of the two girls. Another shot that they use in this advert is a long shot to show that they are in another country as they show a shot of the city in this part, they also use a eye-line match shot to show that the two girls are looking out of the window and see the rubberduckzilla. The sounds used in this advert is a large siren to show that the city they are in is under attack, but at the end they use childish music to show the enjoyment of the two girls. This advert is memorable as there is no such thing as a giant rubber duck that takes over. This makes the product appealing because it provides humour for the viewer. This advert is suitable for the target audience as it shows that it contains water and is a healthy alternative to other drinks for young people. This advert is not appropriate as it has nothing to do with the drink itself.

This is the powerade advert that has a famous athlete in it showing her training methods and what the drink does for the person to help them train. The form of this advert is a talking heads advert as it has Jessica Ennis in it she is a really famous athlete and many people would buy this if they think it is good enough to help her train, this is also a realistic advert as it show her in her normal everyday life. The style of this advert is a famous face advert as it shows this a star that uses this drink as a big part of her life when she trains. The shots that are used in this advert are common shots that are used in a lot of adverts, some of these including close ups. Close ups are used a lot in this advert   The close up in this advert to show a point of Jessica Ennis using this drink as a way of getting her ready for a race, they also use a close up as a way of advertising the drink as there is a clip of the person drinking the powerade before anybody knows who it is. They use sounds such as applauses and a gun fire sound to show the start of the race and what affect the drink has on her. This is memorable as it has a famous sporting star in it. This advert is appealing as it has a famous athlete in it and if someone was to see this then they may want to buy this to be like them. This advert is suitable for its target audience as it shows that if someone is a fan of the athlete they will drink it and that it is healthy enough for this person in there training routine. This advert is appropriate as many people either male or female like this star and it shows that famous sporting stars drink this.

This advert is the relentless energy drink advert that uses celebrity rapper professor green to show that this energy drink gives everyone a large amount of energy and shows a couple of people who drink this and what it does for them. The form of this advert is a talking heads advert as professor green is a very famous rapper, this will make people who are fans of his want to buy this drink. The style of this advert is a famous faces advert as it has a famous person in it that everyone would recognise even if they did not know who he was. The shots that are used in this advert vary. In this advert they use a close up shot as a way of showing the famous face that is in this advert quite a few times as at the beginning it is not very clear from the first close up. They use long shots to show some people and show what they are doing, they also use is to show professor green at the end singing. They also se the 180 degree rule as a way of showing the back of a a person and then rotating round to look at the persons face. They have the music of the star in the advert playing. It is memorable as it has a famous star in and show all of these people who this drink has effected. This is appealing as it has a lot of famous music in it and a famous star, this would appeal to people who are fans of this star. This advert is suitable for the target audience as it is aimed as fans of professor green and if he drinks this then they will as well and it will appeal to any gender. This is not appropriate as the star has nothing to do with the drink just that it gives people energy and people who go to there concerts will drink it to get energy. Although the star may drink this himself.
