Task 5 - Re-draft

Final evaluation - Re-draft:

I created an advertisement based on the drink Lucozade sport. I chose this product as i felt that it was something i could advertise well and it was a challenge for me to produce and advertisement for this product. The target audience for my advertisement were women that are quite active as i felt that these people were most likely to buy the product. I also chose this group of people as they are more likely to use this product. With and advert there has to be a specific reason for someones choice of what they want to do. I chose this style of advert as i felt that i would show the drink giving people energy and will make people believe that this product will give them energy.

Once i had filmed and edited everything i needed to make sure that i received feedback and comments about the advert to see what people thought of it and get some people's opinions on what i could have done to improve. To collect this feedback i used two methods, for the first i used survey monkey to make a questionnaire where i asked a range of different people to watch my advertisement and fill in some questions. For the second method i presented a screening, in this i was able to show people my advertisement and then get there feedback from some questions that i asked, i also used a large variety of people who were different ages and genders. Using the survey made it easier to collect information and feedback. I used two methods as i felt i would be able to collect a wider variety of information.

When i did the survey i used different types of questions, i used, open questions and closed question. An open question is when someone is able to right a large answer in a box that they are given to write in. A close question is a question where someone would only be able to tick one answer. I also used a yes/no question as the question i was asking only required a yes or no answer. An example of one of the question i wrote was 'What do you think some improvement could be?'. This question was asked as i was able to then find out any improvement that i could make for the next time. As an example of a closed question the people i asked were asked 'On a scale of 1-10, what would you rate this advertisement?'. This mean't that the people we asked were able to tell me what they thought of my advertisement. There were also questions that i could have asked like 'Do you think the soundtrack works well with the concept of the video?'. this would have been a good question to ask as i would have been able to get a sense of if people thought the soundtrack would match with the video.

The other method of research that i used was the screening and in this i was able to ask questions like 'What did you think of this video?'. This mean't that i was able to find out what people thought of my video and what they felt i could have improved on. The audience that i used were a range of different people, there were many different aged people there and there were a even ratio of men to women. One of the people that answer a question suggested using men and women in my advertisement as the advertisement would then appeal to both genders more. The reason why i used both of these research methods and not just one was because i felt i could find out more information from using both and i would be able to ask a larger range of people.

I then had to analyse all of my audience feedback, this meant looking through all of my footage of my screening as well as looking through the feedback that i collected from my survey. Looking at my results there were a mix of different answers, i received some positive and negative feedback and some negative feedback. There was a large mix of answers but the majority of them were positive. For the survey the majority of the people i asked said that i could have used a wider range of shots, also all of the people i asked said that it was an effective advertisement. During the screening there were a large majority of people that felt i could have used both genders of people but overall they scored my advertisement a 8. I received positive feedback because people felt that my advertisement worked well in advertising the product, and they all agreed that they understood the advertisement. There was good feedback about my advertisement as people felt that the way i edited my advertisement worked well with the concept of the advertisement. This was one of the main things that the audience enjoyed.

There were some things that i found out about my feedback that i didn't feel would come up. As this advertisement was mainly focused at women who were quite active. Even though it may not have appealed to men they enjoyed the concept of my advertisement and there were also some people from the older generation that gave me good feedback from my advertisement which i did not think would have happened. When i asked what my audience thought of my advertisement this person responded saying that they felt the concept of the advertisement worked well in advertising the product.

Overall, from the screening and the survey i felt that the questions were relevant for the information i was trying to receive from my audience. The quality of the response that i received was of a high standard. However, i could have included some more relevant questions in the survey that would have made the information i collected even more conclusive. One of the question that i could have asked would have been 'Do you think the music matches up with the type of vibe the advertisement is giving off?'. One of the questions were also not that helpful as it was a one answer question, this did not provide me with much evidence as to why people felt the way they did about my advertisement. The question was 'On a scale of 1-10, do you think that this was effective?', i could have improved this question by asking why people felt the way they did about my advertisement.

Before i found out what my audience thought of my advertisement i made my own opinion on how i felt the advertisement worked in selling the product. I felt that the advertisement worked well in selling the product as it was showing what i wanted when i edited it. There is a possibility that this however could have been improved by using a wider range of cast in my advertisement and not just one person. I could also have found it more effective as i knew what the vibe was that i was trying to give off, and i felt that i made this work for the little time i had to produce my advertisement. There were also some improvement that i could have made with adjustments to the editing.

The adaptations that i may have been able to make would have been to the editing. To enhance the development of my editing i could have used an advanced amount of different shots rather than using partly identical shots. I could have also perfected some of my editing as in various areas there were pauses that did not work well within the advertisement. However, i felt that as a whole worked exceedingly better than i had initially thought it would, as the advertisement was fast paced and vivacious. When producing an advertisement in the future i will make sure that i collect a wider range of footage, this will help if i feel as though there are any changes to be made. I would have improved and adapted the question that i used to collect my feedback by using a wider range of question that are more elaborate. I corresponded with my audiences opinions as i felt that there point were valid and that the improvement they suggested would have made my advertisement more effective.

I feel like there are some improvements that i could have made to the filming as at some point their were pieces of clips that were slightly wobbly. This mean't that i had to then cut the clip shorter so that the camera movement wouldn't be able to be seen in the advertisement. It was clear what the product i was advertising was as you were able to see what i was in some clips of my advertisement and at the end of my advertisement there is editing that shows the drink moving, this clip is only focused on the product. The concept of my advertisement was good as it matched up with what i was trying to sell and showed that the product actually works.

Some of the things that i could have done to improve my advertisement were to think about the cast that i was using before i produced my advertisement as there were some complication within my group of people. I could also have improved by using a completely different concept as this was similar to my group members. If i was to produce something like this again i would make sure that i filmed a lot of different shots so that if i felt that some of the clips weren't working i would be able to change what was happening in my advertisement. This could have also been improved if there was specific clips that i had filmed then i would be able to produce the advertisement that i specifically wanted.
After looking at my advertisement and all of my feedback i felt that my audience understood the concept of the advertisement really well and they knew what i was trying to sell. I also felt that the editing techniques i used worked well as they made the advertisement look like one long clip that had been produced with some small twists. Also from the feedback i received an eight out of ten for my advertisement, i also felt that they gave me this score as the editing, music and advertisement as a whole worked well together. Even though i was given this generous score, there were some small improvements that i could have made to try and boost my score up to a full ten.
